About Us
The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center of Albany is dedicated to advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders.
For nearly four decades, Dr. Richard Holub and our experienced clinical research team have worked with patients, families, caregivers, community clinicians, and research sponsors to bring meaningful Alzheimer’s disease research to the Capital Region and beyond.
Our center combines extensive clinical-trial experience with individualized attention for people and families facing memory concerns, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementias.
Clinical Research, Cognitive Evaluation, and Education
The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center of Albany offers clinical trials, cognitive evaluations, research-related consultations, and education for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders.
Our clinical research team is available for consultations and cognitive testing at no charge.
Dr. Richard Holub serves as President, Director, and Principal Investigator of the Center. Our team helps individuals and families better understand memory changes, explore available research opportunities, and determine whether further cognitive evaluation, biomarker testing, or clinical-trial participation may be appropriate.
We welcome people with memory concerns, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, or other dementias. We also welcome people without symptoms who may be interested in prevention research, family-history risk, genetic risk, or biomarker testing.
Experience in Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical Trials
Dr. Holub has conducted Phase 1 through Phase 4 Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials for nearly four decades and has participated in more than 134 clinical trials.
His research work has played a significant role in the clinical development and investigation of every medication currently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
Our team has experience supporting a broad range of Alzheimer’s disease studies, including oral medications, infusion therapies, subcutaneous treatments, diagnostic and biomarker studies, prevention studies, and research involving people at increased risk for Alzheimer’s disease before symptoms begin.
Our Research Center
The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center of Albany encompasses more than 6,000 square feet of dedicated clinical and research space.
Our team includes experienced clinical research coordinators, registered nurses, research assistants, cognitive raters, physician support staff, and investigators with extensive Alzheimer’s disease clinical-trial experience.
Our facility includes a fully functioning laboratory, infusion suite, examination rooms, cognitive-testing rooms, and research workspaces designed to support modern Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials.
We also maintain longstanding professional relationships with local imaging centers, laboratories, and medical specialists. These relationships allow us to coordinate the imaging, laboratory testing, specialty consultation, and other services commonly required for clinical trials and cognitive neurological evaluations.
A Commitment to Patients, Families, and Progress
Research participation is always voluntary. Our role is to explain available options clearly, answer questions honestly, and help individuals and families decide whether a particular study or evaluation makes sense for their circumstances.
Since 2017, the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center of Albany has been a member of the Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation. We share its commitment to accelerating Alzheimer’s disease research and bringing meaningful study opportunities to patients and families in our region.
Our mission is to help change the course of Alzheimer’s disease through research, education, early identification, and compassionate support for the people and families affected by memory disorders.
